  1. Review Return to School Plan
  • Informational
  • Our return to school plan has been set to parents and is on our school webpage.
    • The morning outside line up and end of day dismissal has been fantastic. The kids are doing a great job.
    • There have been a few issues with the drop off zone. This is getting better each day. We will continue to remind families in the Bruin Bite.
    • Masks are required, kids have been really good about this. We do have extra paper masks available in the office.
    • We receive 2 cloth masks per student from the State those will be handed out tomorrow, September 3rd in their 2nd
    • Most concerning time is the cafeteria. We have moved to 3 lunches and have placed “Bear Paws” on the seats to spread the students out.
    • There was not a safe way to safely social distance while using lockers so we are allowing backpacks this year.
    • We were able to get a Chromebook out to every student.
    • Kids that get sick during the day will go to the Counseling Center,
      • The ladies will go through the symptom checker, if the student is exhibiting any of the symptoms they will be isolated in the sick room until a parent can pick them up. A letter with instructions and the school nurses contact info will be sent home with the student.
      • If they do not have “symptoms” they will then wait in our second “Sick” room until they can be picked up or are ok to go back to class.
    • Parent Teacher Conferences will be virtual in one form or another. Paula will be discussing the issue more with other principals at a middle school principal meeting this week.
    • On-Line learning families, thank you for your patience. It has been a challenging process. The district is working on the issues.

Outbreak Criteria

Outbreaks can happen in one area (like a classroom) or extend more widely (like a school or district)

  • 1 case in a classroom is not considered an outbreak
    • Only individuals who were in close contact will be notified and required to quarantine at home for the designated 14 days
  • 2 cases in a classroom within a 2 week or 14-day period puts a classroom on alert for heightened awareness
    • We will notify the students and parents within the class of the situation and ask them to take extra precautions and remind them to stay home if feeling sick
    • Enhanced cleaning will take place during this time
  • 3 cases in a classroom within a 2 week or 14-day period is considered an outbreak
    • Everyone in the identified classroom(s) will need to quarantine for 14 days at home from the date of last exposure.
    • The school will clean the classroom per guidelines established by the health department
  • 15 cases in a school within a 2 week or 14-day period is considered an outbreak
    • The whole school will need to quarantine for 14 days at home from the date of last exposure
