Goals for Butler Middle School’s TSSP 2023-2024
Attendance Goal:
In the 2023-2024 school year, BMS will aim to have 80% of our students on track each quarter with attendance in all grades and student groups. We define on track as students missing less than 10% (green and yellow).
Behaviors Goal:
Behavior – 85% of students will report feeling connected to school on targeted school climate survey. We will average the last 3 data questions related specifically to connectedness from the survey.
Coursework: MI (Math) Goal:
75% of our students will be proficient or advanced on the Spring 2023 Math Inventory (MI).
5% or less in Below Basic and 20% or less in Basic in each grade level by the end of the school year.
75% of our SWD, ELLs, and students in the Below Basic level will grow at least 50 points or one level in the January and April testing windows.

Summer called to open the meeting and asked all to review last month’s notes. Marci motioned to approve the minutes and Sara seconded the motion. - February Meeting Minutes Approval
(Summer)Notes Sara Vrains was present at the last meeting. We are at 70% overall attendance and will work on that moving forward. - New Teacher Student Success Plan Proposal and Input (Bryan)
Ideas and preferences from teachers.- TSSP and Landtrust funds handed out for review
- TSSP and Landtrust goals to be reviewed
- $177,000 in TSSP and Landtrust $130,000
- Keeping same goals as last year but with a change to the testing program from MI and RI to district wide screener. Also raised the school climate goal to 90% of students feeling connected.
- Keep read 180 teacher at .5 FTE

- Bruins Den increase to $6000 to add math help into 1 afterschool program

- Brian will meet with those absent and review the goals.
- Tyson motioned to approve the plan and Lori seconded it. All in attendance were in favor of approval.
- Bryan brought up FTE funds and let them all we received a .33 FTE above what we received last year. DLI will be taking that FTE
- Choir numbers are falling and Bryan mentioned if they do not increase we might need to cut the program.
- Lori asked where our students went to decrease our 6th grade class and Bryan let her know home school and online school and charter schools pulled from us.
- TSSP and Landtrust goals to be reviewed
- Review of the feedback from Cottonwood Heights and the District regarding our Safety Plan submitted in October. (Bryan)
- The crossing at Bangle and Wasatch is dangerous and a bus should be provided.
- City and district will look into this issue and let us know.
- Elen Birrell is a possible contact to help keep streets safe.

- AI was asked about by Summer and asked what the district plan was moving forward. The answer will be taught to teachers in Tech Summit.
