Goals for Butler Middle School’s TSSP 2022-2023
Attendance Goal:
In the 2022-2023 school year, BMS will aim to have 85% of our students on track each quarter with attendance in all grades and student groups. We define on track as students missing less than 10% (green and yellow).
Behaviors Goal:
Behavior – 85% of students will report feeling connected to school on targeted school climate survey. We will average the last 3 data questions related specifically to connectedness from the survey.
Coursework: MI (Math) Goal:
75% of our students will be proficient or advanced on the Spring 2023 Math Inventory (MI).
5% or less in Below Basic and 20% or less in Basic in each grade level by the end of the school year.
75% of our SWD, ELLs, and students in the Below Basic level will grow at least 50 points or one level in the January and April testing windows.
Coursework: RI (Reading) Goal:
80% of our students will be proficient or advanced on the Spring 2023 Reading Inventory (RI).

- Attendance currently at 69% for the quarter. Quarter 2 we were at 64%, we have improved.

5. Review Building Leadership LandTrust/TSSP Suggestions (Paula)
LandTrust Goals—LandTrust/TSSP due on April 10th *Informational
- Goal #1 – Attendance: current plan is 85% we are proposing we change that to 80% of our students on track each quarter with attendance in all grades and student group
- 6th gr: 1st quarter: 80%, 2nd quarter: 71%
- 7th gr: 1st quarter: 75%, 2nd quarter: 62%
- 8th gr: 1st quarter: 73%, 2nd quarter: 57%
- We will have quarterly lessons on attendance. Recognition for good and improved attendance with postcards and PBIS points.
- Summer Gallegos made a motion to approve the plan, Sara Vranes 2nd and the vote was all in favor.
- Goal #2 – Behavior: We will be adding the Thrive Time Lessons created by the district.
- Ily Murdock made a motion to approve the goal, Doug Draughan 2nd and the vote was all in favor.
- Goal #3 – Reading: In the past we have received a grant (ESSERS) to help with the reading program; Read 180. That grant will end this year.
- This is the program we use with the Tier 2/3 kids, Jenni Clyde and Brittany Hawk classes.
- Sara Vranes made a motion to approve the goal, Summer Gallegos 2nd and the vote was all in favor.
- Goal #4 – Math: We will adjust the MI testing schedule to give Math teachers more time to prepare the students. Every classroom should have a Data walls and Math Practice standards posted.
- We will include the Math Goal in the new digital student planner.

6. Course Requests/Registration Timeline (Paula)
- Feb— course request being collected

- New 6th Grade math advancement option
- February— we collect course request numbers from students/review permits and boundary student numbers to determine how many permits we can facilitate. We have reviewed overall numbers and permits. Currently our incoming 6this at 292, 7th grade at 287, and 8th grade at 315. At the end of this month, we will look at open enrollment permits, likely accepting a few in 8th grade and then place the remaining students on a waiting list for next year. We will look at permits and numbers again towards the end of June and the beginning of the school year.
- March—look at funding and course request numbers to determine courses for next year
- April/May—create school schedule for next year—determine which combinations of courses each period fits the most student requests.
- June/August—work with counselors to finalize student schedules, look at additional student requests
- August—Parents register students online
