BMS Mission Statement
The mission of Butler Middle School is to foster rights, respect, and responsibility in a supportive school community that ensures all students achieve high levels of learning.

Goals for Butler Middle School’s CSIP 2019-2020
Attendance Goal:
In the 2019-2020 school year, BMS will aim to have 80% of our students on track each quarter with attendance.
As a sub goal, BMS will aim to have the percentage of students with disabilities and English Learners students on track with attendance each quarter at 80%.
Behaviors Goal:
85% of students will report feeling connected to school on targeted school climate survey.
Coursework: MI (Math) Goal:
60% of our students will be proficient or advanced on the Spring 2020 Math Inventory.
Reduce the percent of students in below basic to 10% or less in each grade.
80% of our Students with Disabilities and English Language Learners will grow at least 50 pts. Each testing window.
Coursework: RI (Reading) Goal:
80% of our students will be proficient or advanced on the Spring 2020 RI
6th grade with 5% or less in Below Basic and 20% or less in Basic
7th grade with 4% or less in Below Basic and 16% or less in Basic
8th grade with 4% or less in Below Basic and 11% or less in Basic

- Welcome – Introductions
- Approve last meeting minutes (February) Monica Alm made a motion to approve the minutes from our February meeting. Tatiana Grant 2nd the motion, all in favor.
- TSSP/LandTrust Plans (Paula) Debbie Durtschi made a motion to approve the changes, Honor Steele 2nd the motion, all in favor. Doug will send out the state approved signature page, approving the Landtrust Student Success Plan.

- Incentive Activities:
- One of the things we had discussed changing was SST can now override for attendance in relation to a family death and other individual student issues for the Golden Bruin Award.
- Increased the budget to $3,000.00
- Attendance Postcards,
- Teams will send out Great Attendance postcards,
- SST will send out the improved attendance postcards.
- Behavior:
- We changed from 3 – 18 hour aides to 1 – full time aide, Stephanie McDonald.
- We agreed to help with the PTSA with $5,000 towards the Great BRUIN Store.
- Reading:
- The majority of our money will be spent on the Read 180 program. To help our students in the following areas: below basic reading, special education and ESL

- Substitutes
- Bruins Den – treats/snacks for students attending bruins den. (This money will come from TSSP)
- Math:
- Math 180
- After School Math Tutoring – most will come from U-Star, we put $1,000 to cover what U-star doesn’t.

- April/May—create school schedule for next year—run numbers to see the best combination of courses each period.
- June/August—work with counselors to finalize student schedules

- About 230 Chromebooks have been checked out to families/students
- The district will have a few Hot Spots available for check out.
- All SpEd and ELL students have personally been contacted to make sure they have the “tools” needed.
- We are working on a plan with our part time ESP staff to help support the students and teams with contacting students that need more assistance.
- Due dates: parents are concerned with work due the same day it comes out. Working parents are struggling to help their student and get things turned in by 3:00 the same day. We will work with teachers to give families more time.
Next Meeting:
-May 13th at 3:30 pm if we are back in school, if not then we will meet Friday, May 15th @ 10:00 am via google meet.
