Greetings,
I hope you all had a GREAT Thanksgiving. It is always nice to have some time off to spend with family.
The power went out Monday morning which made for an adventurous return. I am so proud of our GREAT Bruins. They remained calm and kept learning through the morning. They followed directions, and we were able to get everyone lunch and back to their classrooms in a safe and timely manner. We dismissed school for the day at 11:50. Thank you to our amazing cafeteria staff, our students, and our teachers for their work and efforts through the morning. They were awesome! Thank you for your help with the sudden change of schedule on Monday.
Wild Weather/Inside Days–We will no longer be sending this out as an alert. Inside days will be when the Feels like temperature is 22 or below. We will post it in the front of the building. We will not send an alert. This past week it was daily. It seemed excessive to us and to some of our parents.

Safety Update – The district posts COVID information on the District Dashboard. BMS continues to be in the 1-5 range. Again, I want to express my gratitude for your efforts at home. While the dashboard says that we have 8 students with a positive COVID test and very few students quarantined, we do have several parents who have proactively kept their children home after a positive exposure. BMS remains in person with some of the lowest impacts because of the care you are taking in your homes and the support you give to us as we work with your children to be safe at school. Thank you! Your efforts at home and ours at school have made a difference in our COVID dashboard numbers. As we move into the Christmas season, please continue to be vigilant by taking the following precautions:
- Wear a face mask anytime you are around people with whom you don’t live.
- Maintain physical distance from those who aren’t in your household.
- Practice good hand-washing hygiene (use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if you don’t have access to soap and water).
- Stay home when you: are sick, have symptoms of COVID, have tested positive for COVID, or have been placed on quarantine.
Socks for Homeless Shelters – We are continuing our service project until winter break (December 18th). Please donate new/unused socks for our homeless community. The grade level with the most donations will win a prize. Thank you for your support of this worthy cause.
Parent Resources – I try to send home various articles or links that I think parents might find useful. This is just a resource that you might find interesting. I hope that some of what I am able to send is helpful. Sometimes there are repeats, but I do try to provide at least one resource each week.

Ongoing Items – These items have been addressed before, but may be needed again.
- Bruins Den – December 8, 9, and 10. The Bruins Den is available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the GREAT Room. This is a time for students to complete homework and/or get help from teachers. Each afternoon, two teachers are available in the GREAT Room to assist with student homework. Students can work on their own or get assistance from a teacher. Computers are available for homework.
- Wild Weather Days/Inside Days – With snow already falling and in the forecast, there will be days when traveling to and from school may become challenging for families. Please give yourself and child extra travel time to arrive at school safely and on time. We do have more parents drive on bad weather days which means there will be a longer wait time. Having your child ready to exit (5 second drop off) is the expectation. This becomes really important on the busier days.
