The Bruin Bite — 24 January

Greetings,

I am sorry I missed sending something last Friday.  I was helping a family member after a surgery and was not in the office.  I did want to update families on a few things so, here we go!

Remote Learning Fridays—We have three coming up. BMS Remote Learning Days.docx.pdf  On remote learning days, teachers will have lessons posted for classes on Canvas by 9:00 AM.  Students are expected to complete those learning tasks.  Teachers will have office hours where there are no meetings, and they focus on email and phone calls from 1-3 PM.

  • Friday, Jan. 28, A-day
  • Friday, Feb. 4  B-day
  • Friday, Feb. 11A- day

Report cards for Quarter 2 have been posted to Skyward. To view and/or print a copy of your student’s report card, login to your Family Access account in Skyward. If you do not have a device to see this information please contact the main office at (801) 826-6800.  Honor Roll Certificates will be mailed later this week.

As a district, we are remaining in Tier 3 this week.  As you are likely aware, the mask mandate was overturned.  While masks are not required, we have had several students ask for one and we will still have masks in the main office for anyone who would like one.  https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/covid-19/ The district is no longer creating a different dashboard from the county.  The district website will link or forward you to the county dashboard and you can find school counts listed there.  BMS is currently listed at 5 student cases.

We are also seeing attendance improving.  (Fingers crossed) Last week we had about 25% of our students absent each day.  Today we have all our staff members in person and a more workable 13% (114) of our students absent.  If you are available, as a district and a school we are in dire need of people willing to substitute.  You can request specific schools.

BMS Teacher of the Year—We are at that time of year to nominate our Teacher of the Year.  The window is open through Feb. 4.  Last year Ms. Clark was our Teacher of the Year.  If you have a teacher who has had a positive impact on your child, please take the time to nominate them.  The PTSA helps us recognize all our nominees.  Teacher of the Year Nomination Form
