Greetings,
Happy Holidays!!!! This is our last Bruin Bite of 2020. I can’t say I am too sad about seeing the end of 2020. It has been a challenging year. Many of you may agree. I’m looking forward to a bright and shiny New Year! We want to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday season. Enjoy your time together and take care of yourselves. School will resume Monday, January 4th at 7:50 AM. The past few days the admin team has been around to various classes playing some quick holiday games. Your children have been amazing!!! We have had fun with Roshambo, 12 Drummers Drumming, and a little reverse charade with holiday songs. Being in the classes is one of the best parts of my job.
Sunset Blend Soda – Butler Middle Schools 2019-2020 6th grade ELA classes had a contest last year to create and market a soda. Did you know that Butler Middle School has it’s own official soda? Last year, the 6th grade ELA classes had a creative project while they were reading “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. Students developed ideas for a soda and then voted to decide on the best. The chosen winner would then be created and available for purchase. Emery Gallegos was the final winner. Her soda idea “Sunset Soda” has been created, bottled, and is now here at our school and in certain stores for sale. If you were in Emery’s ELA class, you get a bottle of Sunset Soda. We handed those out during lunch today. The Sunset Soda will also be available to purchase through the school store when we return from the Holiday Break. Make sure you get yours while they last!
Safety Update – The district posts COVID information on the District Dashboard. BMS is listed with 11 with 101 students being asked to quarantine. Again, I want to express my gratitude for our parents and students. You have been so aware and engaged in helping us keep our schools as safe as possible. In our most recent 3 positive cases with students, these students had been home from a home exposure and we did not have to ask other students to quarantine. We have several parents who have proactively kept their children home after a positive exposure. Thank you!!! Please be cautious over the Winter Recess and as we return remember to follow the Daily Symptom Checker and if you have had an exposure to a confirmed case, please quarantine. Thank you for your efforts and please continue to be vigilant by taking the following precautions:
- Daily Symptom Checker
- Wear a face mask anytime you are around people with whom you don’t live.
- Maintain physical distance from those who aren’t in your household.
- Practice good hand-washing hygiene (use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if you don’t have access to soap and water).
- Stay home when you: are sick, have symptoms of COVID, have tested positive for COVID, or have been placed on quarantine.
