Although power was restored to Butler Middle on Thursday afternoon, the school’s heating system continues to malfunction in the majority of the building. While crews were able to direct warm air flow to the auditorium in time for the dance concert on Thursday evening, the temperatures in classrooms and hallways remain uncomfortably cold. Despite the efforts of our maintenance workers, it’s not expected that the heating system will be repaired in time for school to start on Friday, Dec. 2. The expected overnight low temperatures also will cause the indoor temperatures to drop even more.
As a result, Butler Middle students will pivot to a remote-learning day on Friday. Under this schedule, students will not attend classes in-person on Friday. They will learn engage in learning activities from home via Canvas, the common-learning management system. Please expect your child’s teachers to have class information posted by 8:30 a.m. Students who need nutrition services may pick up meals at Brighton High, 2220 Bengal Blvd. Breakfast is from 7 to 7:30 a.m. Lunch will be served from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. We ask they identify themselves as Butler Middle students as they go through the line.
